The Oscars: Awards season's jewel in the crown

The ceremony may have been more subdued than most, but this year's Academy Awards still managed to bring forth the star power – and some seriously A-list jewellery! One of the biggest trends of 2020 and 2021, statement earrings, took centre stage on the Oscars red carpet, with coloured gemstones and yellow diamonds accenting equally bold and beautiful gowns. Lariat necklaces dripping in delicate white diamonds were also on show, while men's jewellery had a moment to shine, with yellow gold rings the piece of choice.

GIA recalls fancy colour diamonds over undetected treatment

The Gemological Institute of America (GIA) has withdrawn the grading reports for a number of diamonds and requested the stones be sent back for re-testing, over concerns an as-yet unidentified treatment could have gone undetected.

Michael Hill International reports positive sales trends

In its latest quarterly financial report for the trading period ended 28 March 2021, Michael Hill International (MHI), has recorded encouraging results, including a 16.4 per cent increase in same-store sales and revenue of $118.5 million, up 11.6 per cent when compared with the same period last year.
